On Monday, June 22, 2009, the Kendallville Heritage Association meeting was held at 6:00 p.m. in the Kendallville Public Library conference room. In attendance were: Eric Daniels, Dave Christianson and Becky Daniels.
Minutes of the April meeting were approved as written.
Dave Christianson, Treasurer, gave the financial report. The balance remains the same as reported in April. There have been no expenses. Membership dues were collected from members in attendance. Eric Daniels submitted a paid invoice for reimbursement. This covers the cost of registering the domain for two years and two years of web hosting of the website.
Mary Hartman was unable to attend tonight's meeting. Mary sent her regrets to the group and the status report of the Russell Frehse Collection with Becky Daniels to present to the committee. Judy Richter has completed her inventory of the collection. The next step will be to go through the materials and determine logical groupings and classifications. We will not begin to work on that until sometime in July..
Eric Daniels gave a status report on the KHA website. Eric has set up the domain name, kendallvilleheritage.org with Imhosted.com for 2 years. The first page has been created so we can begin to get hits on search engines. Since we had some conflicts in schedules with committee members, Eric will email a demo website to committee members prior to the next meeting to view and offer suggestions for content and appearance. At this time, Eric has pages ready to add information with the headings of: timeline, downtown history, homes, people, business, contacts, contributions (financial or information) and the history of KHA. There was a concern about copyright issues that we may run into by using historical photos and written material on the website. Before the next meeting, Becky Daniels will check into these copyright questions.
The next meeting will be 6:00 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Kendallville Public Library, Meeting Rooms 1&2 .
